Penn State Office of Science Outreach

Organization

Penn State Office of Science Outreach organizes science outreach programming (such as our Science-U summer camps) and connects Penn State researchers to the community.

MISSION

The Eberly College of Science (ECoS) Office of Science Outreach (OSO) was established to connect faculty and students to K-12 students, teachers, and the public through high-quality, innovative education and outreach programming.

OSO has a three-fold mission that supports the missions of the ECoS and Penn State:

  • To support and empower RESEARCHERS in the effective planning and implementation of compelling Broader Impacts activities
  • To engage STUDENTS in experiential learning opportunities that enhance their personal and professional development
  • To develop and sustain COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS and programs that engage diverse audiences and increase public STEM appreciation and literacy

WHAT WE DO:

OSO works to accomplish this mission by organizing an annual slate of science outreach programs in conjunction with partners across Penn State and our local communities. We also develop resources and services that support ECoS students and faculty in their outreach and engagement with many different audiences.
